Cannabis Social Media: A Provider Review Checklist

Clarify responsibilities, approval steps, account ownership, and inquiry handling before engaging a social-media provider.

Updated September 16, 2026 · Cannabis Consult Pro

Define the work before hiring a provider

A social-media proposal should make clear who creates content, who approves it, who responds to messages, and what the provider will report. Ask for deliverables you can evaluate rather than promises of reach, account safety, or guaranteed growth.

Questions to put in the brief

  • Who is the intended audience, and what action should appropriate visitors take?
  • Which channels and types of content are included in the proposal?
  • Who supplies photographs, technical information, and product descriptions?
  • Who checks factual claims and obtains any necessary legal or platform-policy review?
  • Who owns the accounts, creative assets, and reporting data?
  • What happens if a post is rejected or an account becomes unavailable?

Plan the operational handoff

Decide how inquiries will reach your team, who will respond, and how the team will record the next step. A campaign that attracts attention but leaves inquiries unanswered does not provide a usable business process.

Keep campaign promises aligned with what the operation can deliver. Give your provider a clear process for checking availability, product information, and changes before publishing.

Compare scope and costs

Separate content production, account management, reporting, paid media, and third-party charges. Ask what the retainer includes, how revisions are handled, and how you can leave with control of your accounts. Use the branding and marketing budget checklist to compare proposals.
